Bikes!

We’ve been talking about it for months and at long last it’s finally here – Bike season! With that said, half of our shop is still winter so anyone looking for a great deal come on in!  As for the bikes - well they are beginning to fill the showroom floor along with riding gear and accessories.  Other summer inventory, including Oakley sunglasses, Bote paddleboards and kayaks, and all our summer gear will be moving into the shop soon. Come check out the latest styles!

Last hurrah of winter

Back to the weather, we just missed the last of most hill’s ski season. Last weekend marked the final days for Powderhorn and Mt. Zion, and Whitecap has not been open for a while now. Snow River Resorts are holding on, they are aiming to be open until April, but with the upcoming temps it is going to take some work for them to manage that feat.

Speaking of the upcoming temps, they are looking to be trending even more to spring. 40’s, 50’s and rain seem to be the trend for the next week, with a little rain to end off the week. Spring is here, and it’s bringing all of the usual odd temperature and up and downs that come with them. Overnights hitting 20’s will keep a chill in the air, but the warmer temps during the day will help dry out trails to get us on bikes soon enough, and making it very pleasant to be outside.

News from the trails

-New Sram Brakes – Beefier and better

Sram launched a new line of brakes known as the Maven, taking a new step for the company. Replacing their usual dot 5.1 fluid with mineral oil, following the design of Shimano and other prominent brands. They are very beefy brakes, built like dirt bike brakes, made for gravity and e-bike riding with incredible stopping force. Unfortunately, as we have more cross-country biking around here, they will not be a common sight for us. I would love for someone to prove me wrong though!

-Instinct refresh – new and finetuned

Hard to believe the Rocky Mountain Instinct could get any better, but their newest model now has in-frame storage, more adjustability, and updated geometry. But don’t worry, they didn’t get rid of those rad colors! Come in and check this bike out!

Sending off racing - the right way

Last week’s racing segment was titled last hurrah of racing, but that was a lie. The past two weeks have had the end to Team Z racing, starting with a trip up to the Chequamegon bay, at Mt. Ashwaybay. A smaller hill and a smaller race, unfortunately still saw my class not having any competition. A 4th overall is nothing to scoff at, and with room that could’ve got me into 3rd or even 2nd, the weekend was a sucess. Some of you mightve seen this past weekend having King of ‘Z’ mountain up on Mt. Zion, the final cap off to the season. For once, I had a class of competition, having the class be moved up one year so I raced againts the class under me. This led to a more exciting race, but I was still able to take the top spot. Another 4th overall caps off a good season of racing with one final good weekend.

The future - and you!

Now, as the groove of the posting has settled, and I have gotten more into a rhythm of making and putting out content, I’m making out a call to the people: What would you like to see more of? There are some plans for stuff in the future (Let’s just say the name ‘trailhead talks’ has been floating around a little, any guesses?), but we want more community engagement. We want you guys to have this feel more connected, and it starts by asking what you want to see. Right when this goes out, there will be an extra post around the same time asking for suggestions. Head over to our Facebook and leave a comment with what you’d like to see, and it might just happen in the next few weeks.

A lot to talk about this week, but nothing really left for the little footer I always put at the end. I do want to thank everyone who has been reading the blogs and liking the posts, a lot of work goes into these behind the scenes that you guys do not get to see. Maybe someday I’ll have to make a behind the scenes, maybe if someone suggests it?

Happy Adventuring!

-Peter
